Internal Family Systems
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic method, developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz. that helps uncover and restore the different parts within our psyche. These parts are often shaped by past wounds and carry emotions like shame, sadness, or fear. Some of these parts try to protect us by controlling our behavior or shutting down painful feelings. At the core of this approach is the belief that we all have a central Self—an authentic, compassionate, and whole being that can capably lead the entire system. IFS works by identifying these conflicting parts, healing the wounds they carry, and reconciling them with our Self.
